"I know that we share the interest in promoting dignified, legal and orderly living conditions to all migrant workers. Many of them, despite their significant contribution to the economy and to the society of the United States, still live in the shadows and, occasionally, as in Arizona, they even face discrimination." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/05/19/AR2010051903350.html
The president of Mexico President Calderon was in Washington yesterday to meet with President Obama. Facing discrimination?? Pffffft. Why not just go home and obey the federal law? It is a federal crime to be in the US without the proper papers. FINAL! President Obama said: Speaking to reporters in the Rose Garden, Mr. Obama called the new law “a misdirected expression of frustration over our broken immigration system” and said his government “has devoted unprecedented resources” to stanching the illegal flow of people into the country. “I want everyone, American and Mexican, to know my administration is taking a very close look at the Arizona law,” he said. “We’re examining any implications, especially for civil rights, because in the United States of America, no law-abiding person, be they an American citizen, a legal immigrant, or a visitor or tourist from Mexico, should ever be subject to suspicion simply because of what they look like.” (What unprecedented resourses has the government taken to staunch the flow of illegal people into this country? How do you have civil rights if you are not a citizen of this country? Geez these people are illegal not legal! http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/20/world/americas/20prexy.html?partner=rss&emc=rss
